Joke 102

"A thing that someone says to cause amusement or laughter, especially a story with a funny punchline." - Oxford Languages

Okay now you might know how to make a joke after reading thru several Jokes:101s here's what comes after you know how to do it -> How to do it RESPONSIBLY

TL;DR:  Just put yourself in person's shoes before making a joke, if that same joke would make you uncomfortable then better don't say the joke.

A few things to be remembered while making jokes -

  1. Always punch up never down.
  2. If you are making a joke or comment on someone you should be ready to take one too.
  3. Implied humor is way better then a direct comment.
  4. Direct comments can be perceived as rude
  5. Indirectly making fun of someone within limits is funny but targeting just one person using same joke repetitively is bullying and lame.
  6. Your aim should be to create a funny environment and not target one person.
  7. Never belittle something a person is proud of during a joke.
  8. Being straight up rude is not roasting.
  9. Dark jokes without humor are just pure insensitive.
  10. Don't joke about a person's insecurities.
  11. You don't always need to have a comeback. Sometimes you could just laugh it off.
  12. Leave space for others to make comebacks and don't just keep attacking. Be vulnerable.
  13. Self roasts are good , self degrading jokes not so much.
  14. When you are bragging as a joke make sure others know that, by changing your tone a bit or you will just come off as arrogant.
  15. Jokes can be subjective so always mind the group or person you are pitching them to.
  16. Insults are funny mostly when they are either well crafted or not true
  17. As a rule of thumb, don't make fun of things people cannot help like their race, age, sex, etc.
  18. Although one can make a joke on race, age and sex without being racist, ageist or sexist by making these offensive ideas as the subject rather than the target of the joke.
